Middletown Township Receives $5.25 Million from State for Transit Oriented Development at New Statio

Updated: Apr 26, 2020

Middletown Township (Delaware County) has been awarded Department of Community and Economic Department's Transit Revitalization Investment District (TRID) Grant that totals $5.25 Million over 15 years. The project involves several infrastructure improvement, including a trail network and pedestrian enhancements, in the vicinity of SEPTA's proposed Wawa Regional Rail Station along the Media/Elwyn line. The grant funds are being matched with funds from SEPTA's capital budget earmarked for the Wawa Station as well as the planned Franklin Mint Development by the McKee Group.

In 2017, Urban Partners assisted Middletown Township in the preparation of a TRID study and subsequent approval process for all local taxing entities: Middletown Township, Rose Tree Media School District, and Delaware County. Aside from a project in Pittsburgh, the Middletown TRID is the only approved and operating TRID in the Commonwealth.
