SUNBURY RIVERFRONT PARK MASTER SITE PLAN

Urban Partners served as economic development consultant for the Sunbury Riverfront Park Master Site Plan, a project that received the 2006 Merit Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects. The goal of this effort was to create aesthetically pleasing riverfront improvements -- including a signature amphitheater complex --that would combine flood protection with expanded park and recreation facilities. Our role was to identify recreational, tourism, retail and commercial market opportunities that would allow this waterfront investment to serve as a catalyst for broader investment in the immediate area and the adjacent downtown commercial district.
Urban Partners completed a market assessment for a wide range of waterfront-related recreational activities. Additionally, we examined opportunities for supportive retail, office and lodging uses that could be developed in the nearby downtown commercial district to heighten the impact
of the waterfront improvements. The City of Sunbury has since adopted the proposed plan, retained architectural and engineering firms and completed project construction.
